The nightly rate was for off season and for 2 people. Add $7 additional per child (again off season rate) and our nightly rate was $44. We have been to the water park but have never camped there since people we know had less than stellar reviews. I cannot say that I agree with them. The staff was very friendly as were the seasonal campers that we chanced meeting. Our site was not level but I do not expect the world when I camp this is why we carry leveling boards with us. Unfortunately the sauna and steam room were out of order. The hot tub was functioning and actually hot (we have been to a few campgrounds where the hot tub was luke warm at best). The pool was a little on the cool side but it was a cool fall weekend. It did not stop kids from being in it. Their summer rates seem kind of high, but once you realize how much it would cost just to go to the water park the rates are not that bad. We are even considering getting a seasonal site here next year. I will forewarn that if you have a site near the lodge the music can be kind of loud and during the summer they have bands and DJ's in some of the pavilions. If you are looking for a park with a peaceful setting this is probably not the place for you. If you are looking for a campground with a bunch of activities and people who like to have lively fun, this is the place!

We stayed here in a cabin as a base for some winery tours. The park itself is beautiful with miles of hiking trails along the creek. In the summer they dam a section and have a swimming area. The bathrooms by the cabins are a little older but were kept clean (with the exception of some bugs in the showers). There is a new shower house/bathroom in the camping area which is very nice but the water did not get as hot as it did in the older shower house. The cabin was decent with an apartment sized fridge/freezer and also a stove/oven. The cabins only have twin beds (one bunk bed and 2 separate beds). We ended up pushing the 2 beds together (not easy as they are kind of heavy). I will warn that the mattresses are HARD. We were lucky enough to have water right next to our cabin. We also brought an electric heater with us as the cabins have no heat and no fans. It was also nice that we were able to have our dogs in the cabin with us. We would definitely rent a cabin here again.

With AAA discount rate was $41.40 a night. This park never ceases to amaze me. It has been a few years since we had been there and totally forgot how pristine it really is. Sites are very large and many areas have old growth trees. Sites are never muddy and the whole park is paved. It is also nice to have a cement pad when you step out of your MH. Less crowded than I had expected. Had some issues with heating the pool and hot tub the weekend that we were there. The park is constantly being upgraded (I believe they were working on a fountain this year). The center bathrooms have been redone and look great. They also have installed a washer/dryer combo in both the men's and women's restroom. The only thing that would make this place a perfect 10 is to have a camp store, which I understand is in the works.

This is one of our favorite parks, for the reasons the previous poster did not like it! I love not having cell or tv, that way work cannot contact me and the kids are forced to play outside instead of watching tv all day. The owner goes out of his way to make sure eveyone is enjoying themselves. I like that the road down is a little hairy, if it wasn't then getting a site here would be next to impossible. 2 miles from the front of the campground to the back, for the most part seasonals kept separate from weekenders, huge tenting area. Bathrooms in the middle of the campground recently redone, not sure about the ones near the lake. Laundry facilities and a snack bar. When we want to get away from the world and just relax for the weekend this is where we go. If you are looking for a resort, this is not the place. If you are looking to get back to nature and "camping", this is your place!

Shhhhhh....keep this a secret! We found Austin Lake a few years ago. I was at an RB shop in Madison, Ohio and saw a fluorescent yellow brochure for a campground I had never heard of before. Decided to check it out and have been going back a few times a year since. We are not resort type campground people, preferring nature over glitz, and let me tell you, this is the only private campground we have been to that is like a state park. You will not get phone service and you may not get radio or TV, which adds to the beauty of this place. You truely can get away for the weekend and just enjoy yourself. The owner is one of the nicest people you could meet. The "seasonals" do not treat you like they own the park but rather welcome you. Our kids have never had a difficult time finding things to do, but they also enjoy exploring, biking, swimming, hiking, etc. I just can't say enough about this campground, but shhh, don't let the word get out. Let's keep this our little secret, okay?
